Personal Statement
I have always been a very competitive person, pushing not only myself but my teammates as well, to do our best in every situation. I was originally big into basketball, which is where I credit my footwork and overall speed. I quickly became interested in football through my dad, who helped influence me to go out for the team my freshman year. Over that summer, my coach approached me and told me to work as hard as I can because the team could use someone like me with my work ethic, coach-ability, and talent. I listened to him and for the past three years I have been working to become the best I can be and now I am aiming to play at the next level.
The hardest part of my high school career was last year's state tournament. Our team was very good and our connection was amazing, but late into the quarter-finals game, our quarterback went up the middle on a QB-draw, and got hit by three backers breaking his ankle. We went on to finish and win the game without him, but ended up losing in the semi-finals. This taught me one important lesson and that is to always be prepared. Our team was not ready to lose our star QB, and we lost because of it. If we were prepared, the outcome could have been very different. In the end, this helped me to become a better leader, even being named a Captain my junior year and this coming fall for my senior year.
Due to my Catholic education, my goals are high. My overall goal academically is to earn an Engineering Degree and move into the automotive world. Athletically, I want to be the best I can be, giving my all to my team and working towards success. I believe my athletic background, my work-ethic, my leadership skills, my character, and my talent all fuel my drive to play for the next level. I know I will have a positive impact on any team I play for in the future.
