I am a competitor at heart. I believe that is why I fell in love with the game of football at an early age. I began playing and realized quickly that I was the stereotypical “underdog.” I was not as strong, fast, or even as big as those I played against. My coaches quickly realized though that I possessed a fierce desire to win. I also expect a lot from myself and spent my spare time improving my game. Every time I step on the field I want to be the best and above that I want to win. With every year that I have improved my game, I have also grown to love football even more.
I have learned so much about life and myself from playing this game. The two lessons that have set in the most have been that I am capable of more than I thought possible as long as I am willing to work hard and fight through my doubts; secondly, I have learned that when you are fighting for something bigger than yourself you are capable of anything. I love the feeling of having a team that has my back, and also knowing that just like in life, being a good teammate means you are willing to sacrifice your own desires for the good of your team.
I strive not only to excel on the field but also in my academics. I come from a long line of Law Enforcement officers which includes my Grandfather and Uncle. It is currently my desire to enter the Criminal Justice field and hopefully, one day become a Lawyer.
Being from a small, rural town has brought both blessings and obstacles. While there is not a lot to offer in comparison to larger cities or more affluent areas, my small town has taught me how to be determined, how to fight for my dreams, and most importantly it has taught me how to overcome failures.Being a football player is just one aspect of who I am as a person. I am proud of every accomplishment I make on the field; however, my biggest accomplishment is in being a big brother and mentor to my two younger brothers. I hope that in the course of following my dreams they see how to follow in my footsteps to become great men. I aim to make my family and my small town proud.
