My varsity coach often shares this quote from Martin Luther King Jr. in his emails to the team.
“Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.”
This quote can be applied to any group or team, and is especially true for a basketball team. I believe a basketball team and each player functions best when all of the parts function as a harmonious collective. As a guard, I grind for the team by helping each player reach their fullest potential for the collective good. In doing so, I’m able to create open shots, score, and assist. Individually I work hard. I constantly work to improve my skills with daily practice and training while also increasing my knowledge of the game. My greatest assets as a player are shooting, work ethic, grind, and coach-ability. As a student, I would like to find a school that will help build on my interest in business, entrepreneurship, and economics.
