Personal Statement
I am Kenneth Ross, Jr. (aka KJ) and I love the game of basketball. I have been playing on a team since the age of 5 and have taken advantage of numerous camps, tournaments, AAU teams and coaches, with the goal of boosting my basketball IQ and talent. As a result, I feel that I am a major asset to my team and strive to be a leader on and off the court.
My collegiate goal is to play for a team that will allow me to showcase my talents, enhance my game and provide me with a strong academic program as well. I have had to challenge myself, particularly last year, as I transitioned from a Catholic school education, to a public school, which was a huge adjustment for me. I am confident in my abilities this year and am actively working to improve my GPA and continue to perform well on and off the court and be the leader on my team.
I am different from other players because I truly study the game. I have played all across the state, to ensure that I encounter every type of player. In doing so, I’ve gained confidence and never feel that I am outmatched. I can play in any atmosphere and learn something new. I have been fortunate enough to experience many different coaching styles and have been able to play with athletes who are older than me for quite a while. I have benefitted from rigorous workouts and have improved my stamina and ability to play at a high level.
I am excited about the next chapter of my life and look forward to finding a program to call “home”. I am eager to pursue my goal of continued growth over the next few years and honing my skills both academically and athletically.
