Michael Goepel '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Michael Goepel, I'm a sophomore at Mason City High School in Mason City, Iowa.  Basketball has been a part of my life since I joined my first travel ball team in the 2nd grade.  I've since been part of several travel ball teams that have seen a lot of success, including a 6th grade school team that placed 3rd in the Iowa AAU tournament and champions in the 3A/4A School State School team tournaments held at the All Iowa Attack facility in Ames, IA.  My team also represented Iowa twice in the Pacesetter Great Five-State Tournament held in Minneapolis.  My AAU teams include the North Iowa Fire, and Iowa Ambush over the last 3 years.  I'm currently on the Ambush 16U team.

As a student athlete, I've always held the student part as the most important part, with very good grades, and have been honored the last two years with a CIML All Academic All-Conference award.  I've participated in several sports growing up, including football, and soccer and have continued to play both basketball and soccer in high school.  My head is in the game that I play, always play hard, and never give up.  My dedication shows with the Mason City Mohawk 3 Feathers Award, this honors my dedication to basketball outside of the regular season. 

I'm still searching for a career direction and may even want to coach someday.
