Mitchell Countryman '20 Recruiting Profile

As a freshman, I was a backup point guard to a three year varsity senior.  My role was to protecting the ball and get the seniors open shots. 

My Sophomore year, I was the starting point guard again playing primarily with senior teammates.  I adjusted my role to take on more leadership of the team.  Although I was the youngest player on our team, I led the team in several key categories such as assists, blocked shots and fewest turnovers per minute of play.  I was second in overall scoring but led in FG% and 3pt%.  I was also second on the team in steals and rebounds.  I was honored to be selected to the 2nd team All-Conference.

As a Junior, I found myself the only returning starter for our high school team.  During this rebuilding season, I honed my leadership skills by helping the younger players gain confidence and knowledge of the game.   Most games I was fighting with double teams and penetrating zone defenses.  I was asked to guard the best player on every one of our opponents' teams no matter if they were Centers or Point Guards.  I was selected 1st team All-Conference for my efforts and awarded Team MVP and Defensive Player of the Year by my teammates.

What makes me a good candidate for your team?  My work ethic and leadership skills fit well with any team.  I take instruction well and focus on the details of the game.  I have passion to continue to improve my skills and never shy away from hard work.  I am a driven person that attempts to excel at everything I do.  I maintain good grades, have a strong ACT score and have received several awards in athletics, music and speech.  In my free time, I enjoy playing the guitar and am interested in pursuing a career in Marketing Management.
