Dear Coach:
My name is Maxime Cesar N.T. Broh (a.k.a “Max”) from Montgomery Village, Maryland. I am writing to you because of my interest in playing basketball at your College/University. I am a starting Shooting Guard/ Small Forward on the Magruder High School’s Varsity Basketball Team. I consider myself to be a great set shooter, an aggressive rebounder, and very athletic as a Shooting Guard/ Small Forward
My passion for basketball was apparent at an early age. The basketball was introduced to me by my father at 4 months of age. However, I started with soccer prior to that. At age 5, I officially started playing basketball with the Wheaton Boys & Girls Club (WBGC) in Wheaton,Maryland. At age 6, our team, “Red Ninjas”, won our first championship trophy. Since then, I have played basketball competitively for many years.
Freshman year, I started on the Junior Varsity team (2014-2015) and averaged 16 points per game. I was the Leading Scorer among my teammates, as well as one of the best scorers as a Junior in Varsity League. My highlight of that year was scoring 21 points in one game. Sophmore year, I was promoted to the Varsity team and consistently contributed significant minutes throughout the season. From 2015 to present, I have played in approximately 100 Varsity games. I have also had the opportunity to participate for the second time in the Playoff for the A3 Regional Title. This past summer, I participated in three separate camps: Coach Pete Camp in Washington, DC; Scouts Focus Camp in Fairfax, VA; and US Select Basketball Camp in Baltimore, MD. Currently as a Senior, I am averaging 15 points and 2 rebounds per game at the Varsity level.
I have also played for the following Basketball AAU teams: I-270, Germantown Heat, Maryland Basketball Elite 80, DMV Swarm-Rockville, and Maryland Flames. Since 2015, I have played in more than 80 games with Maryland Basketball Elite 80 & DMV Swarm-Rockville combined. I have also participated in the Hoop Groups Summers Jam Festival 2016 Elite 100’s in New York City (NY), and the Hoop Groups Summers Jam Festival 2015 & Four Days 2017 Summer Jam Elite 100’s in Pittsburgh (PA). In addition, I was invited to the Eric Maynor (Former Philadelphia 76er’s & Washington Wizards) Summer Camp in North Carolina in 2014. I received the MVP for Best Shooter.
Other extra-curricular activities include the opportunity to volunteer with Hope Ministries, a 501(c) 3 ministry for community service events, such as the Maryland University Concession Stands, where I volunteered for 3 UMD Basketball events (UMD Vs Monmouth, UMD Vs Winthrop, and UMD Vs Oakland) in 2014 and 2015. I have also helped to prepare Thanksgiving baskets for those in need for Hope Ministries. As a member of Immanuel’s Church, in Silver Spring, MD, I have had the opportunity to do volunteer work occasionally throughout my 10 years as a member. This past summer (2016) I worked as a Junior Assistant Counselor for their world-wide Summer Camp, Camp Sonshine, which serves children from grades k-12.
Upcoming basketball events include participating in the Spring Camp with Hoop Group- Spring 2017 Elite 100’S in Arlington (VA), Baltimore (MD), and Pittsburgh (PA).
In summary, I exhibit very good motor skills and strength on the basketball court. I also know I have very good ball handling skills, and I don’t hesitate to pass/share the ball in a game. My finishing ability around the basket is good, and my defensive skills are suitable. In addition to being a very good shooter, I know how to use time and space in my favor on the basketball court. I trust that these assets will take me to the next level.
I am impressed with your academic program which will further enhance my educational growth and athletic development. The school size and student ratio are also attractive features of the school, and will allow for a smooth transition.
I would truly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you about the possibility of being a part of your team in 2018. If there is anything I can do to help you decide whether I might be a good fit for your program, or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I have included the contact information for my current coach in the event you would like to discuss my abilities with him.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration of my application. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Best Regards,
