Hello! My name is Damaris Rodriguez. I am a class of 2021 DS/L at Magruder High School, located in Derwood, Maryland. I started playing volleyball Summer of my freshman year of high school and fell in love with the sport. After just one-year playing, I was bumped up to varsity. That's when I knew I wanted to pursue playing in college. Through the years, what has helped me become a better player is criticism from teammates and coaches. I am always open to new feedback that will help me improve. when playing I love to carry A positive attitude towards my teammates and coaches attitude and play to win!
My freshman year, I got the most improved player, and sophomore year on varsity. My junior year was phenomenal, with our record being 25-0 and winning State Championship (Division 3A). Through the years, hard work and dedication got me to be a starter each year. Academically I always want to challenge myself, and it didn't always have the best outcome. Through the years, I have matured and have learned to value my education more. Once I realized that I not only needed to improve in volleyball but also my education, There has been nothing but academic improvement. I plan to keep that mindset continuing my senior year of high school, and as of now, it's going great. I am most proud of my junior year. It was my best year academically and athletically. That year of high school best represents me as a student and person. Besides school and volleyball, I work at a daycare, which has definitely influenced my college decision to major in child education. Working there, I have learned to be responsible, punctual, and patient. I understand that I am a role model for these kids and influence them.
