Dear Coaches,
My main goal as a Senior basketball player is to continually strive for excellence in my sport and in school. I am aware that you must work hard at both to succeed in college and beyond. My Great Grandfather, Grandfather, Father and Uncle have set the bar high for me as they are the only three generation football players to play and excel at the UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA on the field and in the classroom. You can Google "BUDGE PORTER" to learn more about my courageous Father's journey after his paralyzing injury while playing for the Huskers.
As a Freshman at MILLARD NORTH, the largest high school in Nebraska, I earned a Varsity letter and led our Junior Varsity team to an 18 and 4 record. My coach named me to the starting 5 for Varsity as a sophomore. I pride myself in being a team player and a true student of the game. They call me a play maker and my passing skills are exceptionally strong.
As a sophomore and junior, I had the privilege of starting every Varsity game and learned so much more at this next level. I strive to be a good teammate by sharing the ball and helping make each of my teammates a better player. I am second in scoring and have led my team in rebounds, assists, blocked shots, steals and charges taken which helped shape me in to a more well-rounded player.
This summer was an important one for me to display all I have learned over the past 3 seasons. I started for the Omaha Sports Academy Summer Select 17U Crusader's National Team sponsored by ADIDAS. We had 10 tournaments all around the country and our team went to the FINAL FOUR at the ADIDAS SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP in July. We earned a final national ranking of 13th in the country.
My parent's and I look forward to my Senior season ahead while working with you in finding the best fit for my college education and basketball future.
Thank you in advance for your interest in me. You will not be disappointed.
Respectfully Yours,
BRET PORTER
