Personal Statement
My college goal at this time as a sophomore in high school is to play Division II basketball. As a sophomore I started all 25 varsity games this season. In 8 district (conference) games this year, I led the team in scoring with 12.5 PPG, my overall shooting was 48%, 3 point shooting was 56%, 23/41. I also averaged 3.1 RPG in conference play and 4.3 RPG overall for the season. I put a lot of time in during the off-season working on my ball handling and shooting. During my freshmen offseason I spent 3 days a week in the gym working on shooting and ball handling. I stayed after practice this year 3 to 4 days a week shooting until I made 100 shots. Now that my sophomore basketball season has ended, my goal is to shoot, ball handle and lift weights 4 nights a week in the offseason. My goal will be to make 125 shots per session and to put on 10 to 15 pounds by November of 23. I will have to balance this in the spring with participating in track. I respect the game of basketball and you can see in my highlight videos that I have a strong basketball IQ. My teammates often tell me how I show little emotion on the court and I tell them you have to stay steady. Sometimes you have good nights offensively and sometimes you struggle and you have to remain calm, persevere and contribute in other areas. I am coachable and do what my coach asks. I have never played the 4 spot defensively and this is where my coach needed me on defense this year. It has helped my all around game and I have improved my rebounding and post defense. I have a 3.95 GPA and value my work in the classroom.
