Terrance Nichols '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Terrance Nichols from New York Mills High School. As a young student athlete, I am very dedicated not only on the court, but also in the classroom and the community. Many people define my character as a honest, caring, hard-working, determined, and loyal young man that many people are reliable on. These adjectives that people use to describe me are very heart warming and I appreciate that people view me this way. As from a basketball standpoint, I have now completed three years of varsity basketball and currently going into my junior year. Already I have achieved my ultimate goal of leading my team as a starting point guard to a New York State championship and to the state championship game twice. I have been named captain for our varsity team twice now and am determined to repeat as a state champion before I graduate. I feel am a good canidate for anyone that has interest in me because I simply refuse to lose. Through my two years I have never been on a team that wasn't lower than 2nd in the state at a point in the season. Now as a junior, I have an overall record of 67-9,(45-5 as a starter), three sectional championships, three regional championships, three state final four appearances, two state championship appearances, and one state championship. As an student-athlete, I feel I am different from other recruits for several reasons. As stated before, I will do whatever it takes to win, so I am content with any role I recieve and will preform to the best of my ability. Also, I work hard off the court as well. Throughout high school thus far, I have maintained a 3.8 gpa, even with distractions that come with us holding our great tradition of winning. I am a very vocal point guard who will take pride in leading a team to where it needs to go. I work well with my teammates and am known to increase team chemistry as I have a very outgoing and caring personality. Whatever the coach wants, I will do my part to make sure that it happens. No matter what role I'm given, whether it is scoring, defensive specialist, etc., I will make sure I carry out that job. As a point guard, I realize that I am the general out on the court and I make sure the offense flows through me. I am also know to be a clutch player and great passer. In the state championship my sophomore year, my coach drew up a play for me to hit the go-ahead 3 with a 1 to go that would put us up by 1. I meet my coaches needs hit the shot and knocked down the free throws at the end to lead our team to a state championship. My assist to turnover ratio was 2:1 and averaged 5 apg along with 9ppg as well as a pass first point guard. This year, I am now taking over the scoring role for our team avg 20.1 ppg in league play and 18.4 ppg overall. I was named MVP of our league, and our section. I was named to the NYSPHSAA all-tourney team and was later on announced to be a member of 1st team all-state. Thank you for your time and I hope you will have interest in me!
