Personal Statement
Breaking the school record with over 1.400 scored points along with a near 30 point game average has been the highlight of my high school career. However, I believe numerous experiences helped me achieve that personal goal. My school team and my AAU teams differ drastically. Both of these teams have been extremely valuable to me. Coming from a small school with limited players and resources it was necessary to put in an intense amount of work. A big responsibility fell on me to play and perform at a commanding level, playing nearly every minute of every game. The mental challenge was real. Our wins were limited, so a fierce heart kept me going. I bring that heart with me wherever I go. My AAU teams were drowning in diverse talent, speed, intense competition, and successes. While playing on these teams I developed numerous skills, physically and mentally, that will be necessary to compete at the collegiate level. The coaches, and the team atmosphere, cultivated discipline and quick decision making. I am fortunate to have played at this level and recognize it has helped me mature into a tougher athlete. I look forward to being pushed further in all these areas.
Growing up with a single Dad, I am always being pushed to be strong, independent, and goal oriented. Growing up with Basketball, I have learned the importance of a team, that sacrifices are necessary, and relationships are invaluable. As a student athlete I also take my grades very seriously. Graduating on my school's Honor Roll. I truly believe I have been given a gift from God, and I do not plan to let this gift go to waste. I would love the opportunity to pursue that gift, to complete it. I don't believe I have reached my peak as a competitor, the best is sure to come.
As a student athlete I will always challenge myself to do these three things
1. Grow as a competitor
2. Grow as a teammate
3. Grow as a leader/man
As a student athlete and member of your program, I PROMISE to do one thing:
1. I will ATTACK ANY challenge with everything I’ve got. I’m ALL in.
