Throughout my life, I have always enjoyed being a Student Athlete and intend to pursue my career in business and corporate America. As I have observed my Dad and Sister, their careers in professional sales and marketing have always raised my interests for which I am very passionate when it comes to understanding business. The creativity, goal setting, people challenges, and fast-moving environment is similar to being a great athlete and I hope to take it from the court to the business world.
While attending Flower Mound Marcus High School, I was involved in the Spanish Honor Society, DECA and Black History Club where I lead by planning and organizing events. During my largest event, we hosted 2000 individuals focusing on raising funds for Sr. Scholarships. My family taught me to lead and be involved to make a difference, and I am proud to say that I have done so with success. This has helped me understand deadlines, how to multi-task and juggle a hectic schedule. This has prepared me for the challenges of being a successful Student athlete.
Outside my involvement in these clubs, I am an All-A Honor Roll Student with a 4.2 GPA. I take great pride in my academics, as well as my athletics. As an accomplished student and athlete, my goal is to continue my success through hard work, dedication, passion, and the core belief of positivity which my family has instilled in me. It is my goal to earn a master’s degree in business.
In January 2020, I was selected to be part of the Trey Athletes to further improve my skills. This is a program designed to help top tier athletes develop interpersonal and leadership skills. My experience with Trey Athletes has given me a better understanding of how to navigate the college experience and become a successful Student Athlete.
Studying Business will require commitment and hard work, and I am determined to use my time and dedication in this field as I intend to achieve my career aspirations to work in Corporate America. I want to become a business executive so I may support myself and one day, family. I want to take my experience in Athletics and apply the principle in business. As I considered which schools would best fulfill both my academic and athletic interests, and I want my hard work to pay off and become part of the college experience. I love to compete, to prepare, and to work with others in a team-oriented environment.
I am excited about the opportunity to play for your college basketball team. I appreciate what basketball has taught me about myself at this point in my life. I have learned that I crave competitive environments, even ones where I am not be the most gifted or talented. My basketball experience has helped me enjoy intense preparation and working with a team toward a common goal. I have also learned to remain persistent amid disappointments. The intense preparation of working in a business environment, the need to work as a team toward a common goal, and the ability to perform all these tasks without seeking personal glory are all lessons that I have learned on the basketball court. These are lessons that I want to apply to my life and business environment, with the purpose of making them life-long strategies for success. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.
