Hello, my name is Ava Darvassy. I'm a very coachable 2024 power forward with an all around skill set. I'm a solid 6'0, who actually enjoys playing in the paint. I never shy away from a challenge, I love taking charges and I will outwork anyone. I pride myself not only on my skills but also on my knowledge of the game and it's history. My favorite players are Ben Wallace, Cynthia Cooper, Dennis Rodman and Nikola Jokic. And to quote the legendary Pat Summit, "offense sells tickets, defense wins games and rebounding wins championships". This quote resonates with me because, don't get me wrong, I love to score, but a lot of people focus only on scoring and being the star. They overlook the other aspects of the game, and that is where I come in!
Beyond Basketball, finding a program that is both academically and athletically challenging is important to me. I have many different interests. I love music of many genres and decades, reading, painting and playing the piano. I am a huge advocate for Autism Awareness, mostly because my little brother has autism. I agree when people have said "see the able, not the label" because everyone on the spectrum is different and personally, I love bragging about what my brother CAN do! The careers I’m looking to pursue are English teacher, Writer, Psychologist, Social Worker, Basketball Coach or a combination thereof.
Thank you for reading my statement!
