Dear Coach
I hope all is well and I hope this finds you well. My name is Jed Nicol-Darmadi and I am a Class of 2020 guard/forward at Scotland Campus Sports in Pennsylvania. I am originally from Melbourne, Australia, where there is a tremendous basketball culture. There is always a desire to test our grit in the United States, because the speed and physicality of the American game is superior and best gives you the opportunity to thrive in college.
As a 6-foot-3 guard, I bought into a lot of different roles for head coach Blake Kingsley. Most notably, I supplied hustle points as a guard who can score inside and score through contact. While we had a number of sharpshooters on our team, I was more of a work ethic scorer. I was able to get into the rim and finish and draw fouls. I was also able to turn in numerous traditional 3-point plays. The defensive motor with which I played also separated me from others, who simply did not work as hard. In college, I understand how hard you work is essential in dictating your career and the success you will have on the floor. Working with a first rate staff that includes legendary Prep School program builder Chris Chaney, I got the opportunity to really learn more about the game and understand new concepts to apply to my game every day. Under strength and conditioning coach Travis Scott, I became more of a physical specimen. This strength helped with my work as a defensive and offensive rebounder and also paid dividends with my interior scoring. I've always been a guy who can knock down that 15-18 foot jumper consistently, so being workmanlike and providing hustle points allowed me to really focus more on expanding my all around game and balance out our scoring.
I also played against high level post graduate academies, such as Olympus and Our Savior Lutheran and others. This allowed me to play against bigger, stronger, and older guys and therefore give me an idea of what the transition to my freshman year of college will be similar to.
With my 3.4 grade point average and my outgoing personality, I believe I have the tool set to be an immediate attribute to your program. I look forward to hearing back from you based on any workout opportunities or potential scholarship or walk-on opportunities.
Best, Jed Nicol-Darmadi
