My name is Jack Farrelly, I am a rising senior at Western Branch in Chesapeake, VA. My life long goal has always been to receive a scholarship and play basketball at the collegiate level. I fell in love with the game when I was seven years old, and I knew I was serious about basketball when I was fourteen years old. I am a huge Syracuse basketball fan and when I lived in Japan I would wake up early in the morning just to watch their games with my father. What makes me different from other recruits is that I believe that I am very hard working and respectful. My dad served in the Navy for twenty years and always taught my sisters and me to work hard for everything because nothing is given to us for free, so we have to go and get what we want. Growing up under a Japanese mother, I was always taught to show respect to anybody I cross paths with. Athletic wise, I am not the fastest person on the court or the person that can jump out of the gym but I believe that I work my butt off on the court and hustle on every possession and I have a high IQ for the game of basketball. Academics are always a priority in my household so I work hard in the classroom which has given me a 3.94 weighted GPA. Thank you for taking the time out of your day and reading my personal statement.
