Dustin Hassell '14 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Dustin Hassell, I'm a 17 year old senior, and I play basketball for Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, Virginia. In high school, I started as a freshman on the JV team. Sophomore season I started every game on varsity as the shooting guard and was the second leading scorer on the team.  As a junior I was voted co-captain by the players and coaches.I have started every game as the 2 guard but have also played point at times. After having completed the regular season, our team won the District Tournament championsip. I was named to the All District Tournament Team, and earned All Conference honors for the season. I also lead the region in 3 point shooting percentage shooting 43.7%. As a senior our team won the Blue Ridge District title, went on to win the conference championship and followed that up with a regional championship. We lost in the state semi-finals by 6 points finishing 3rd in the state. I earned 1st team all district, 1st team all conference, 1st team all region and VHSCA 1st team all-state. 3 point shooting percentage my senior year was 45%. Scored 20 points in regional championship game as our team beat previously unbeaten Spotswood (28-0) to advance to the state tournament. 1st time that Lord Botetourt had ever made it to the state tournament.

I have played AAU for the Virginia Sonics for the past 6 years at the point guard position.  Last year I averaged 15 PPG and 3.2 APG. I averaged 22.7 ppg in the 17u aau division last year.

My goals are to play college basketball and receive a quality education.  I work everyday in the gym to improve my game and give 100% every time I step on the court.

 I am very much looking forward to the college experience and finding the right fit.
