Hi!
When it comes to diving, I’m swimming upstream: I've only been diving for a year, I go to a swim-less school in Manhattan, I commute three hours each day just to get to school, and my parents live 90 minutes away from each other. But despite all this, diving is my passion. I love my team. I love my coach. I love flying through the air and plunging through the water. Most of all, I love the learning and the challenge. I give everything to attend practice with my team 5 days a week, 12 hours each week.
I think (and hope!) my team and coaches see me as a great teammate and leader, a coachable diver, and a dedicated learner. I'm pretty funny and easygoing, but I'm absolutely focused on excelling in academics and athletics... but you can be the judge of that. My high school is a top academic institution with a demanding workload, I speak French and Japanese fluently because of my parents' background and am involved in a lot of cultural activities (and jobs) thanks to that, and my diving coach, George Taylor III, is a former Marine who coached Andrew Capobianco to his National Championship and a host of other elite divers, which is equally exciting and motivating.
My goal is to contribute positively to a collegiate diving team. I believe I'm a strong candidate given my background in gymnastics, which has provided me with a solid foundation in body control, spatial awareness, and strength. What sets me apart from other recruits is my unwavering work ethic, adaptability to new challenges, and commitment to continuous improvement both in and out of the pool.
I am confident that my combination of character, athletic ability, and academic dedication will make me a valuable addition to your team.
