Personal Statement
Hello Coaches,
My name is Landen Henley and I am a senior at Gilbert High School, in Arizona. I have been playing the game of golf since I was 4 years old, but started dedicating myself to it when I was 13 years old. I would like to play and participate in college golf because I believe that the experience will not only better me as a golfer, but as a person as well. The morals and experiences taught within that level of golf will help me build better qualities on and off the golf course. Some qualities I currently try to portray for my teammates and coaches are good sportsmanship and a positive environment. My rules in tournament play are built on two principals. First, a person is not a person without other people. What this means is that my success is a fraction of the whole of my team. Secondly, play it forward and take it one hole at a time.
During school golf season I practice 5 days a week and try to work out and exercise on an alternate day schedule. Off season I usually practice around 3 or 4 days a week depending on my academic schedule.
I have not yet decided on a desired major, but business and/or education are a couple of my options right now.
I am looking for a school that will allow me to grow both physically and mentally throughout my college golf career. In turn, I will strive to be an asset to the team and most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the course, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches and the school I attend.
I hope this information has educated you well enough to know more about me as a golfer and person. Thank you for your time.
