Nicklaus Bothun '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Nicklaus Bothun and I have played golf at the competitive level since I was 10 years old. I first began golfing at the age of 3 when I would head out to the course with my dad or grandpa and play from where their ball was. Ever since the first few times of going out with them I have been hooked on the game and have become passionate at becoming the best golfer I can be. At 5 years old I had to lie about my age to just be able to attend the summer golf camp that was put on. Nowadays I travel twice a month to Sioux Falls which is three hours one way working on improving my game to become the best player I can be. I have always enjoyed seeing practice turn into results and have noticed  that trend with my game and hope to continue that into the next stage. I made the high school varsity team in seventh grade and have lettered each year. At state this year as a sophomore, I took 4th. While playing competitively I have learned greatly on how to stay calm and collected in high pressure situations not only individually but also for my team.

Around my community I help out a bunch with umpiring Little League baseball and I have had many parents and kids asking if I could ever take them golfing and teach them how to play.
