Van Guelzow '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Van Guelzow and I am a post graduate student currently playing for Monument Hockey Academy and I aspire to play ACHA DI or NCAA DIII in my college hockey career. I am the perfect candidate for a collegiate hockey team because I am a hard working, competitive player and, better yet, person always looking to push myself to be the best I possibly can at every aspect of life. Not only do I put all of my effort into practice, they gym, and games, but I also put all of my effort towards school, work, and life in general. On top of being hard working, I am also very reliable and I am always someone you can count on to have something done. My head coach from the 2020-2021 hockey season, Christopher Collins, said, "Van is a Swiss Army knife. He can play forwards, play defense, and gets a big hit in when our team needs it." Off the ice, I am the same person. I drove my teammates to school, helped shovel the snow, helped jump cars, and I was always someone the coaches and my teammates could turn to when they needed help or they wanted a friend to hang out with. I was considered the "team dad". With my contributions both on and off the ice, I would be the perfect candidate for a team because you can count on me to give it my all every time I hit the ice or the gym and in school while being a well-rounded person and player who has the tools to help out and capitalize in any given situation.
