Ian McCarthy '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ian McCarthy.  I play primarily center for our 16UAA club team.  My love for the sport started way back when I was 4 years old and I have played ever since.  What influences me to keep playing is the intensity and adrenaline of the sport along with meeting new people and getting to know them.  

I am a playmaker and a team player.  I have been elected alternate captain for the last four years.  I get assists and score using my speed and physicality.  

What I would like to pursue in life is investigative forensics.  I like puzzles and challenges and the ability to overcome them.  This has been true in my hockey career as well.  I was cut from our local hockey club as a mite.  I was forced to go elsewhere, into a different state even.  During that time our team went on to win the state title and I eventually progressed to making the top team over the next several years.

I lead by example and I am never afraid to work too hard.  This is what makes me who I am today.
