Personal Statement
Maximilian Wretsell, a Swedish-American story.
Great skills, good physics and positive mindset are my key qualities playing hockey. Schoolwork is important and most grades are A’s. By being adventurous, tolerant, and honest I make friends for life, being a genuine team player.
Played for three Swedish elite clubs in junior elite series and in national and international AAA tournaments. A regional champion, and a top pick to the Swedish National Athletic Education (state-sponsored hockey high school).
A product of the Swedish hockey system, now adapting to hockey and school in the US. My dream is to combine my passion, high-level hockey with an excellent college education.

Started playing hockey 2013, since then the sport has been my passion. The first years I attended youth camps, select camps, and played minor series in Sweden and Denmark. Later, I played international AAA tournaments in Latvia, Belarus, Germany, and China.
At age 15 I left home and family to join a junior elite team. One year later I was accepted by the oldest national hockey high school in Sweden. Being Swedish-American I have since January 2022 been living in the US, focusing high school and hockey, preparing for college.
I am a multi-sport athlete competing in ice-hockey and soccer on my high school´s varsity teams. I have done many sports like taekwondo and downhill skiing but taking on challenges with others is why I love team sports. Teamwork is a success factor on ice as well as off ice.
Studying is important and I enjoy demanding programs and exploring new areas. I love to perform, in school as well as in athletics. Finally, I value friendships highly!
