Personal Statement
~~My name is Chris Gentile, and it has been my dream since I was a kid to play college hockey. I have been playing since I was 4 years old and want to continue playing until I’m too old to skate. My ultimate goal is to play D1 college hockey and I’m willing to do what it takes to accomplish that. I am very motivated on the ice and in the classroom because I know grades are just as important. I have played travel hockey since the fifth grade and I am now playing Junior hockey looking to advance to the next level. I have had very experienced coaches who have helped me through the years to understand the game of hockey and have taught me what to do with and without the puck. I’ve been recognized for my strong work ethic on the ice along with my very explosive speed. Another key element in my play is my ability to needle passes through tight windows and make the unselfish play. It has also been my mindset that assists are just as good as goals. Another skill to recognize is my soft hands and ability to stick handle at the right times. I have learned throughout my hockey career that the only way to improve your stickhandling is hours and hours of practice which I do every day. Finally, I am a two- way player who will back-check and play defense. My top choices for schools are Quinnipiac University, UMASS Amherst, and UCONN. My sister is an alum of QU and UCONN and had great experiences at both.
