My name is Elijah Olsen. I started the Learn to Play Hockey program when I was 3 years old at the Las Vegas Ice Center. When I was 4 I started to play competitive, full ice, In-House hockey. Then I started playing on a select Mite team called the Las Vegas Outlaws when I was 5 years old. Ever since I have stepped on the ice I have had a burning passion for the game of Hockey. As I saw my love for the game/sport when I was 5 years old, I had dreamed of how far I could go. As a young boy I had found out that I could go to school and play hockey in college, which has been a goal worth striving for.
I have been noticed as a leader on and off the Ice. My team considers me as a caption and depends on me as as a defenseman, passer, protector, and as an encouraging team mate. I will make sacrifices for my team. If I have to block a shot I will; if I have to get hit, or give a hit I will. I also serve at my church, Glad Tidings Church, as a leader. I serve in the youth group, Emanate Student Ministries, as a Student Leader and have had the honor of attending mission outings and sharing short sermons with the youth group. I'm also on the worship team, and help in the kids ministries both in the nursery, as well as in children's church. My friends also see me as a leader, a protector, and a role model as they often come to me for advice, encouragement, and prayer in difficult times.
I have been playing with the Fremont Flyers for 4 years now and it has become home. In the last three years we have won two state championships In-House and we took second place in the Bantam Select Joust Tournament in Omaha, NE. for the 2015-2016 season. With the help of my coaches, team, family, friends, and a lot of hard work over the years, I have seen my God given talent increase in astounding ways. I plan on continuing to play for the Fremont Hockey Association through the Fremont Tigers as a sophomore and on through High School.
Thank you for your time and your consideration,
ELIJAH OLSEN #15
