Jakob Papiez '21 Recruiting Profile

Just wrapped up my 4th year as Varsity on Notre Dame High School Ice Hockey team. For travel this season I joined Lawrenceville Flames 18U, as well as, Mid-Atlantic Black Knights, a 18U Independent travel team to get more competitive exposure and additional ice time. I work hard in the off season to keep myself conditioned. 

As a versatile player I will jump into almost any position coach needs, I'm always willing to earn my ice time, looking to improve my skills and open to coaching feedback. Primarily a left wing but I can easily step in as defender or center, making me comfortable in both offensive and defensive zones. I always try to play up to my competition, have a great attitude, enthusiasm to play and maintain good vision on the ice. 

I like to give back by sharing my love for the sport by volunteering as a junior coach for Princeton Youth Hockey Association and for the Mercer Bulldogs Special Hockey Team, a developmentally disabled hockey team. Recently I teamed up with junior coaches from rival high schools to help raise over $3700 for the Mercer Bulldogs at a community skate-a-thon.  This summer I joined NDHS hockey players to support Anchor House, a local organization that helps homeless teens; as a group we raised over $2100, personally walking/running 100 miles in support of the project. 

As a senior at Notre Dame High School, with 4.0 GPA,  I am working towards a degree in Accounting, with a focus on forensic accounting. My college choices have always included a chance to continue to play competitive hockey.  Thank you for viewing my profile.
