Personal Statement

Hello.  My name is Will Celli and I have an avid passion for ice hockey.  My dream is to play hockey beyond the Junior level.  I would love the opportunity to take my excitement for hockey, learning, life, and people to a next level into college.

I am at the start of my second season with the Worcester Railers Junior Hockey Club in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).  I have been infused into a system that has a competitive game schedule, specific on and off ice training, as well as fosters player life towards independence.  During my first season with the Railers, I played a total of 42 games and tallied 10 goals and 11 assists.  We were fortunate to make it to the Championship in the Frozen Four in Providence.

I would be a great candidate for any team, mostly because I am hard working, outgoing,  knowledgeable and highly skilled.  I overcome obstacles with perseverance and determination.  I can take on tasks that are asked of me.   I am willing to listen and accept critical feedback from coaching staff so I can implement new strategies onto the ice and into my life.  I am friendly and face adversity with an open mind.

I feel that I am different from other candidates because I have high expectations,  great morale, and I am a strong leader.  I am loving, caring, funny, and I am courageous.  I am also willing to go above and beyond.    I work hard on and off the ice.  I believe that I have exceptional character that would make me an asset to a team.    Since High School graduation I have taken college courses through Bucks County Community College in the Kinesiology and Sports Studies Department with a concentration in Health Coach Certification.  Currently, I have a 3.4 GPA and have taken the following courses : Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Life and Health, Nutrition with a Registered Dietician, Interpersonal Communication, College Success Seminar, and Introduction to Psychology.   I know that I would like to pursue studies in the Health Science field.

Through the course of my play, I have  received many compliments on two of my strengths.  First, my skating ability and second my hockey IQ.  I am able to play both sides of the ice and for my Tier I team was rostered to play both offense and defense during the season.

Finally, I believe that I am a well-rounded teammate.  I believe in camaraderie amongst the team and treat it as family.  We must work together through any and all problems with respect and dignity.  I believe a successful team provides one another feedback and is willing to accept it with the desire to learn and grow.  I am capable and willing to provide my teammates with direct feedback that is motivating and supportive.

I am excited to attend a college or university that offers a blend and balance of strong academics, a quaint campus life, and play for a team that is rooted in hockey traditions.

Thank you for your time and attention, I look forward to hearing from you.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
