This may be a common saying, but I truly have played hockey since I could walk. I started playing when I was three years old and immediately fell in love with the sport. Hockey has taught me about working hard and fighting. It has taught me that to be successful you must be both smart and gritty. Hockey has taught me that you are not just going to get the playing time or position you want, but you must earn it. You must put in more effort than everyone else. Hockey has also taught me about camaraderie. My closest friends have always been from my school and travel hockey teams. They are the ones who will protect me when I get snowed in the goal. Therefore, when they make a mistake, I come out to make a big save for them.
To get to where I am today, I had to overcome my dyslexia and dysgraphia to do well in school. I did this by working hard, something I learned from hockey. Academically, I want to go to a strong school that will allow me to pursue my goals and expand my horizons while continuing to play the sport I love.
I think my most unique characteristic is that I will not stop until I win. I will keep going on or off the ice until I get the position or play that I want. I think that I can be an asset on your team because I always fight for my team and teammates to give them the best chance to win.
