I have been playing hockey for as long as I can remember and have always had a dream of playing in college and like every young player, in the NHL. I always hated losing at anything but especially in hockey. As I grew older, I learned how important it is to know how to lose and take it as motivation to work even harder. Coaches have told me that I am a versatile player, able to play offense and defense when needed, and that I have very good hockey IQ. I see the ice well and know where everyone is and where they are going. In my freshman year of high school, I was a solid player but not where I wanted to be. I worked all summer long and came back to earn a spot on the roster with significant ice time. That year we went undefeated in our league, unfortunately losing to our rivals in the championship. I took that personally and leading into my Junior year I worked even harder on the ice and in the weight room. I've noticed how impactful the work I've put in has been and have transferred that work ethic into all aspects of my life.
I am currently playing club hockey for a AA team out of Ridgefield, Connecticut. I was proud to be voted assistant captain by the team after just three weeks of skating together. I have enjoyed that role and strive to lead by example. This coming Varsity season I hope to earn a starting spot on my Varsity team this winter and have impressed the captains thus far. As for the classroom, I use the same work ethic and attitude in my classes. Through my sophomore year, I held a 3.1 GPA, taking difficult courses at Rye Country Day School, a top 20 academic school in the nation. However, as the first quarter of my Junior year comes to a close my grades are the best they have ever been, with 3 A- and 3 B+s. I'm on an upward trajectory.
I would like to find a program that will provide me with a great education along with allowing me to continue to play hockey at a high level. I am ready to put in the work to strive to reach my goals. I believe I have not scratched the surface of my academic and athletic potential. I am a competitor, a leader, and I am dedicated to finding success, making me a great asset to your team.
