Throughout my childhood, sports and spending time at our family cottage have made me who I am today. I am an only child in my family and I was born in Toronto where I lived for the first 2 years of my life before moving to Buffalo, New York - where I first discovered my love of hockey. I can remember the first time my Dad took me to a Buffalo Sabres game when I was 5 years old. The Sabres where playing the Islanders and I was amazed at how big the arena was and how fast the game moved from end to end. I got the opportunity to meet the Buffalo sports commentator, Rick Jeanneret. Meeting him is one of the reasons why I want to become a sports commentator or sports analyst. In 2012 we moved back to Canada so I could attend St. Andrew’s College. I have a dual Citizenship (both Canada and the US) which will allow me to go to school in the US more easily if I choose that option.
I have attended St. Andrew’s College since my Grade 5 year. I have made many new friends and have been part of many sports teams, various clubs was a member of the Middle School Council. I have played rep hockey in Newmarket from Grades 4 to Grade 10 and SAC hockey grades 5 to 12.
Since moving to the Upper school, I have maintained academic excellence as well as continuing to keep my fitness level up. I am very involved in school life, and hope to become a Prefect in Grade 12. I was chosen to be in the Broadcast Journalism Course, produce and star in SAC Today episodes as well as being chosen as one of 60 students who qualify for McEwen Leadership Program.
When I graduate from College, I want to be involved with sports whether it is playing hockey or commentating hockey - I want sports to be a part of my Life. I am very interested in sports broadcasting or sports management as a career path which is why I will apply to a broadcast journalism course at a University either in the USA or Canada. Ever since I was a little kid listening to Rick Jeanneret call games, I knew if playing hockey didn’t work out for me this is what I wanted to do.
