"Strike three", were the two words that led me to the great game of lacrosse. When I was young I thought baseball was my sport. After hearing those words over and over, my dad took me to my little brother's lacrosse practice for the local town team. It looked like a lot of fun and much more action than baseball. I turned to my father and said, I want to try lacrosse. I was in fourth grade at the time and in my town that was late to pick up a lacrosse stick. Most kids started a few years earlier, but my dad took me to Modell's and we picked up a starter stick and I was instantly hooked. Now that I look back on it, "strike three" was probably the best thing that could have happened, because I may have never found lacrosse otherwise. I had to work much harder than the other kids to catch up, I was outside almost everyday on the wall trying to get my stick skills where everyone else's were. This mindset will prepare me to play at the collegiate level.
The mindset of working hard has carried on and off the field. My father always told me great success requires greater sacrifice. One of my past coaches asked me to help coach a younger team, and I am now fortunate enough to be the assistant defensive coach to help show the love of the game to others. This experience has helped my leadership skills tremendously. I learned a lot of field IQ from just coaching for a few months and it has helped me see the field from another point of view.
I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically. I look forward to bringing my work ethic to your team and making an immediate impact on your program.
