My determination is what makes my dedication to my team so immense. Whether I am traveling out of state to see just one race or getting up early to see the first of our teams race and staying until the last race. It is this same determination that sets my mentality every time I set foot into a boat or sit down on an erg. To push myself until the end of every race or practice to improve upon myself and others. To tweak my technique or pull just a little harder to make the time that much better. This great determination is why I have rowed varsity for three years and that I have been captain for the latter half of my high school career. It is what made me the rower that I am today. Rowing is more then a sport to me, it is a never ending lesson, to always continue to make yourself better.
The ways that I have changed since becoming a rower are reflected on my lifestyle. During the off season I continue to train. I changed my diet to become more healthy. With crew always in mind, I cut back on junk foods so that I am always at my best for every practice. Rowing has also changed me academically. That same determination that gets me through every practice and race is what enables me to attain the grades that I have. Academics are incredibly important to me as an individual. I believe this is what sets me apart from other prospective rowers. My determination to continually better myself in all fields. My asperations for rowing in college are simple: to continue living this lifestyle and to improve myself not only as a rower, but as an individual.
