Personal Statement
My name is Dorian Cornichuck and I am a junior at Robert Service HS in Anchorage, Alaska.
Throughout my life I have been a keen sportsman, playing basketball, football, hockey, and soccer. Through the years, my passion for soccer has grown and I remain driven to become a better player. I would like to go to a college with a great atmosphere where I am able to find balance between my classes and the field. I am open to different types of schools which may provide me an environment in which I can learn from others and make an impact.
I am a versatile player, able to easily transition into a position which best fits the needs of my team. Some of my strengths include great anticipation and the ability to read the game and players. I can play both sides of the ball, playing defensive midfield for my high school team and starting center midfield for my club team - Cook Inlet FC U19. I also play defensive midfield and left or right defensive back for my Alaska ODP team.
On the field I am a vocal leader and an aggressive player. I pride myself in my ability to listen to my coaches and always strive to improve. I have learned how to be unselfish, working together with my teammates. I continuously think about and reflect on the decisions I am making on the field and how it impacts the game and sometimes may come across as indifferent when feeling frustrated with myself. I am hoping to be a part of a college program that will help me better push through minor set-backs while exhibiting poise on the field.
I am confident that my drive to succeed and continuously improve myself and my game will be a great asset to your team. Thank you for this chance to "meet" you and I look forward to speaking with you soon.
