My name is Andrew Bach, a Freshman (Class of 2026) at Mira Mesa High School, and I am looking forward to playing soccer at the highest level past high school.
Soccer is an extremely difficult pathway, and I have persevered throughout my journey. However, not once have I seriously considered giving up this sport. It is through those tough moments that push me to become stronger and improve me as a person and a player.
This sport truly has been my passion my entire life, as I started at the early age of 3 years old. I have been playing at Nomads SC since 2018. I originally played with the '07s (one age group above) in the USSDA league for 1 year. The next year, I played with the '07s in the Southern California Developmental League (SoCal) in Flight 2. Then, after the COVID pandemic when DA was discontinued, I went back to my own age group and began to play in MLS Next and have continued to play in this league up to nearing the end of the U15 season. This was certainly a tough season for me, where I lacked minutes, and nearing the end of my time at Nomads. I hadn't played a single minute for 5 games. I made the decision to move DMCV Sharks to play with the B08 ECNL.
Throughout my soccer career, my position has changed a few times. When I was playing with the '07s, I played as a full back. As I moved back to my own age group (U13), I played center back for a season. In the next season after that (U14), I played primarily as a left full back. In this current season with Nomads (U15), I changed positions to become a #10 (attacking midfielder) and a right midfielder. Finally, as I made the switch to Sharks (U15), I have returned back to full back.
Because of these experiences, it has made me a versatile player, and I also am able to understand exactly what my coach wants and needs from me at various moments in the game. I'm able to effectively take tactics out onto the field. My strongest suit is my spatial awareness and high soccer IQ. I can see where the spaces are on the field, and can move there to either make a tackle, or get on the ball and score the goal.
My goals are to continue playing soccer at the highest level beyond high school, and to also get a degree in Bioengineering. I am ready to work hard, and I have what it takes to achieve these goals.
