Personal Statement
My first word as a baby was “ball,” and I grew up playing a variety of sports. I joined pee wee soccer at the age of 4, and I have enjoyed the sport so much that I’ve played it ever since. I got involved in club soccer when I turned 8 and was with the same coach for four years. He taught me to play every position. He told me that I was his utility player and could be put anywhere on the field and play that position very well from defense all the way up to striker. The next coach to work with my club team saw my best fit as center back while my coach for my town team played me as a striker. When I began playing high school soccer as a freshman, I practiced and played with the varsity team. My coach had me as a starting center midfielder during my sophomore year, and I will continue to play this position for him during my remaining high school career.
My parents have always believed in me and told me that I’m talented with my soccer ability. Every coach I’ve had through the years has given me feedback that I’m a smart player and a quick decision-maker. I know where the best and most dangerous pass is. Whenever I get the ball, I already see where I’m going with it next and where to make the next run. Everything about the sport just makes sense, and I strive to continue doing what I love throughout college.
