Personal Statement

My name is Everett Schutta, I’m a 2025 grad from Forest Lake Minnesota. I’ve played soccer as long as I can remember. I’m dedicated to playing goalkeeper, and can’t imagine life without it.

Through soccer I’ve been learning that I’m a good leader. I’ve had coaches and other adult leaders say as much. Last summer I was a crew lead for my scout troop in Philmont. We spent a week in the mountains, and it was my job to make sure we got where we needed to go every day. Through delegation and communication we successfully navigated muddy trails and rivers. Feedback from coaches at camps has also been encouraging that as the GK I have the traits to help lead any team I am on.

I've spent time on teams that didn’t win very often, but I kept working and improving. I joined a new club team last year and had to work to prove they could trust me. Through hard work and an 86% save percentage over the season I gained their confidence. We finished 2nd in our division in the USA cup.

When I’m not playing soccer, I do tech for the theatre and mock trial. I am also a 2 year varsity thrower on the track team.

This is a 9 week course designed for Serious Goalkeepers who want to learn new positional skills, have fun and learn to play goalie aggressively but safely. Some of the techniques that will be covered include: pick-ups from various angles and speeds, high catching, punching, tipping, dropping, driving, charging, throwing, footwork, reactions, punting and goal-kicks.
