My love for soccer is something that I was born with. Growing up in Nigeria, where soccer is the country's favorite sport, you could find people playing everywhere. As a kid, I remember playing in the backyard with my cousins and in the playground's concrete. At school, my friends and I would use plastic water bottles and cans to play during lunch break because balls were prohibited unless during gym.
I was always one of the best on the field everywhere I went, but there was always someone better than me. This fact bothered me a lot back then, but now I realize that I play not because I want to be better than someone, but solely for my love of the sport. There will always be someone better somewhere in the world, and I can't get bothered over that fact. That realization helped me grow as a person and lead me to re-focus my efforts on becoming a dependable player and teammate capable of competing at the college level. I keep my head down and train to help myself and my team grow stronger.
I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically. I'm not the strongest of players, but I fill up that deficit with my speed and technical ability, on and off the ball. I believe I not only have the talent to compete in a college team but the character, work ethic, and leadership qualities to make a substantial impact on your program!
