Sebastian McNeilly-Anta '26 Recruiting Profile

Nice to meet you Coach! I am a player that will compete for you and our team for the entire game, both physically and mentally.  I aim to continue improving my understanding of the game and technical skills, as well as my physical conditioning and strength. I am a leader who will challenge and push my teammates to accomplish our goals through accountability. I own my mistakes and responsibility to learn the game. I possess strong study habits and work to excel as a student in order to earn an IB Diploma from my high school. I am a dual citizen (USA and Spain) and spend time in Spain every year with my family and friends.

We are now well into our 2023-24 season. I aim to improve and continue to develop my game, including striving for consistent performance and focus, and understanding better positioning and communication. I purposefully play left-sided center back because it forces me to have confidence in my ability to use my left foot for all types of passes. It also allows me to mark and defend against the best right-footed attackers from the other team. One technical ability that I possess and take pride in is my first touch. As such I continue to push myself by working first touch at full speed and while receiving harder and more difficult passes. I am engaged in both a strength program and a speed/agility program outside of my club environment as I believe that I still have development needs in these areas. 

One last thing that I would like you to know about me is that I persist. I've been overlooked in my career for flashier or "hyped" players, yet I persist and continue to work and improve, while others that were favored, fail to continue developing and no longer play with the team.  That is my commitment to you.  I will continue to persist, continue to work, continue to improve. You and our team can use that to achieve our goals.
