Jackson Castillo '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Jackson Castillo and I am 17 years old. I am a right-back for my soccer club (UDA 04) and high school team. I will be graduating from Cyprus High School on June 2, 2023. I began playing recreational soccer at the age of four and competitive soccer at the age of 12.

As a student, my educational goals are to earn a bachelor's degree (later a graduate degree). At this time, I'm interested in several subjects, including: history, English, science, and physical education. Given these interests, I'm interested in majoring in: history, political science, journalism, or kinesiology. As an athlete, my athletic goals are to continue to play soccer at the collegiate level. 

At this time, my primary position(s) are center or right back, while my secondary position(s) are mid-fielder and striker. I have been playing center or right back for three years, club and high school team. Based on feedback from my coaches, my strengths as a center or right back, include: patience and calm under pressure; communicate clearly; coachable; team player; technically proficient and composed with the ball; high-level passing and distribution of the ball; and anticipatory and awareness of play/players on the field. Additionally, based on feedback from my coaches, areas where I could improve as a center or right back, include: increase physical strength; maintaining high level of fitness; and maintaining focused mentality. 

In general, I believe that I'm a person of integrity and strong work ethic. Combining these things in both the classroom and on the soccer field will allow me to continue developing as a person, while at the same time contribute to the broader community in a positive and meaningful manner in the future.
