My name is William Nichols and I am a 6'4," 165 lb Striker from Northern Virginia. I am a senior, was a starter on the John Champe High School varsity team for 3 years, and was co-captain my sophomore year. Our team made it to the Regional play-offs two years in a row, which was an accomplishment since our school is only 3 years old. I was named first team All-Conference 28 my junior year. I am also a striker on my club team, Loudoun 97 Black, in NCSL Division 2. In 2015, my club team played 28 games and I had 21 goals and 10 assists. In August 2015, my club team won the Virginia Summer Shootout and Showcase tournament in Williamsburg, VA and I received my team’s MVP for offense and the Golden Boot award. In the three tournament games we played, I scored 4 goals and had 3 assists. So far, in 2016, I have scored 1 goal and had 3 assists in three games for my club team.
Before my junior year, I played multiple positions due to my excellent field awareness and speed. My high school coach says I am a utility player because in years past he has put me in at many positions, including goalie, and been successful (in one game at goalie two years ago, I booked 21 saves), but my primary, and preferred, position has always been striker. My NCSA video highlights from 2014 show me playing forward, midfielder, defense, and goalie. I have posted two YouTubes with highlights from 2015 as a striker. I have played Travel/Club soccer since U-10, as a starting striker, scoring more than 20 goals per season for several consecutive seasons. Our team represented Virginia at the President’s Cup regional tournament in Albany, NY in 2010. I have a lot to offer to a team such as leadership, work ethic, and the desire to win. I am smart - it shows on, and off, the field.
As of June, 2015 my key stats included a 4.75 sec. 40-yard dash, a 4.87 sec. 5-10-5 shuttle, a 26.6" vertical jump, and an 8'4" standing broad jump. During Track and Field tryouts, this spring, I ran the 100m in 11.06 seconds.
While I have not decided on a college major, I am interested in math and engineering. I would like to attend a university with an outstanding academic reputation. I have a 3.58 GPA, including three AP courses plus German 5 my junior year, and AP classes in Calculus and German my senior year.
