2023 Technique Vi...Personal Statement
“4:30,” my phone says. The light from the screen scatters the darkness, and the otherwise calm ringtone disturbs the quietness. A tired and pitiful voice echoes in my head, “That’s barely 6 hours of sleep; you ought to take a day of rest.” At that moment, I contemplate self-pity and the enticing warmth under my blanket. I think about my teammates and my commitment to Chattahoochee Gold. I dream for a moment. I feel the familiar water splashing around my arms and legs. I see the bottom of the pool. I feel my arm crash into the wall. I hear the crowd roar. Men’s 50 Free: Jason Danforth 21.00. I can do that. The motivation thrusts me out of bed and into the water for an early morning practice.
