Personal Statement
I began swimming in the summer of 2011 taking lessons at a public pool at Noble Park here in Paducah. I enjoyed my lessons and showed skill as I quickly mastered the different strokes. I demonstrated that I was very coachable and also had a strong work ethic. In the fall, I joined the Paducah Swim Team which opened a whole new world - competitive swimming.
My journey has been difficult. I have had at least 7 different coaches. The covid epidemic restrictions closed the practice pool and stopped competition. In spite of it all, I developed a love for the sport. For a time, I borrowed a wet suit and was driven to Kentucky Lake just to practice. When the pool reopened, I practiced 6 days every week. On 2 days, I also practiced before school. My family is very proud of my dedication and work ethic.
At 16, I am 5'11", very lean, with long arms and legs. I set my own goals and enjoy competing individually but also have fun with my teammates - especially the relays.
