I love swimming because I thrive on setting goals and devoting myself to achieving greatness. Greatness comes from showing up to work hard and being my best everyday, especially when I don’t feel like it. Two of my favorite events are the 200 breaststroke and the 400 IM. I love the feel of the water as I take long and powerful strokes during the 200 breast. The amazing sensation of the glide after a huge pullout is unlike any other. The beauty of the 200 breast is that it requires both power and technical finesse. I also love the 400 IM because it requires precision, focus, mental strength, and strategy. I see 400 IM as an opportunity to work on quick and efficient turns along with long, fast, and powerful underwaters.
I am passionate about swimming and excited to pursue my academic and athletic goals in college. I enjoy being in an environment where I am being academically challenged and also contributing to a community of swimmers and coaches. I love working hard as part of a team where we support and uplift one another to be our best, and I am eager to learn from my coaches to improve my technique and race strategy. “If you want to be the best, you have to do things that others aren’t willing to do.” This quote by Michael Phelps really resonates with me, since I am hungry to learn and grow, as well as to get stronger, better, and faster.
