My name is Jackson and I am a junior in high school. I love being in the outdoors. Whether it be kayaking, hiking, biking, fishing, or just being with family, friends, and teammates. Most of all I love anything that has to do with water. From competition swimming to just floating in a Minnesota lake.
So why swimming. I have a lot of energy and was always faster in water than on land. I joined a swim club at the age of 9. I thrived on winning and how good I felt after practice. In 8th grade I joined my high school team. This is when my true love of the sport began. Being part of a swim family that pushed each other to be our best, but also to be there to pick each other up when we were not.
I will contribute to a collegiate swim team as a mid-distance sprinter with a highly competitive spirit. My favorite stokes are the IM and backstroke. I thrive on the chase and seem to find a different gear to win the race. Relays are also something I really hope to be on in college. The level of team spirit, energy on the deck, and pure adrenaline is replaced by nothing else in this world.
Now looking ahead to college. I hope to find a school that fits both furthering my education and my love of swimming. I’m not totally sure what I want to study but most likely something in environmental studies, education, or nature conservation.
