I am Justin Gamble, a determined 16-year-old from Piscataway, NJ, and I am excited about the prospect of being a recruit for your university's swim team. For most of my life, the pool has been my second home, shaping not only my physique but also instilling in me a relentless drive for excellence. Over the past nine years, swimming has been my compass, my chosen competitive sport, guiding me through challenges and triumphs alike. Stroke by stroke, I have learned my dedication and resilience. I have embarked on this recruitment process because I want to continue honing my swimming skills while continuing my education as a four-year institution.
Currently, I am a versatile athlete, engaging in both swimming and volleyball. These sports have nurtured my adaptability, teamwork, and discipline – qualities that I am eager to bring to your athletic community. I consider myself a leader on my team, and I try my best to model for my teammates a strong work ethic and a team first mindset. I seek to improve my times, and have the best stats possible. But not at the risk of my team not advancing. So, I have swam races that were not my strength to strive to earn points that could improve the overall team.
However, I am not limited to athletics. My interests span the creative spectrum. Playing musical instruments and indulging in various forms of art, including graphic design, allow me to express my creativity and maintain a balanced lifestyle. I love professional wrestling, cooking my own meals, and creating my own style with vintage clothes from thrift shops.
Recently, I found another creative outlet in my high school's drama club. Notably, I participated in my first theatrical performance, and I am looking forward to continuing my journey as a performer. I am interested in a future as a competitive swimmer. However, I am also realistic, knowing that professional athletics is a dream that usually does not come true. Therefore, through academics and athletics, I see several possible future goal paths: becoming a successful business owner, whether in the realm of entrepreneurship or within a corporate setting, or a lawyer. I know that my career will require resilience, innovation, and leadership – qualities I believe I am gaining as a swimmers.
I am keenly interested in exploring the possibility of becoming a part of your university's swim team. I am confident that my passion, dedication, and skill set will not only enhance the team's performance but also contribute to the vibrant spirit of the university community. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my journey and potential contribution in greater detail.
