My swimming journey began when I was 8 years old my dad signed me and my sister up for summer swim. At first, I didn't really like swimming, I thought of it as a chore or something I had to do. The more I swam the more I grew to love the sport. After summer swim I signed up for a club team where I have swum every since. One of my most memorable swimming experiences was when I was about 14 years old. Our team had a travel meet to a meet in Arizona. I remember not having lots of competition at the meet so I just got on the blocks and raced, not thinking about what I was doing just racing. I got a new best time in about every event and even broke a few meet records. After that I have I began to put more and more pressure on myself telling myself I have to go at a certain time in every race. It has been an obstacle I am still overcoming to not overthinking my races and putting too much pressure on myself. Swimming has taught me several lessons. On top of swimming, I am able to balance school and practice. I have been able to take rigorous classes and attend practice regularly. Swimming in college is a big goal of mine that I hope to be able to do soon.
