Personal Statement
I have been playing tenis since I was six and have been playing regularly since fourth grade. Although I have been on my school’s team since freshman year, I am late to the recruiting process, but I am comitted to my sport. I found myself at a place of rapid developement in tennis and I would like to continue my growth in college. What sets me apart from other recruits is my participitation in other sports. I participate in both swimming and taekwondo which take a lot of work both mentally and physically to endure. My black belt test, with long physical tests as well as memorizing difficult techniques is a good example of this. The willingness I have to fight through adversity translates into tennis as well. There is no ball that I don’t try to get to and I look for creative ways to solve problems and get through long points, games, sets, and matches. I have a versatile serve and a strong forehand which helps me to control the court. I have no problem with playing the long game no matter the end result. As a member of a college team, I know that I would be easy to coach and willing to learn and work with the team. I am looking for schools that have aviation programs as I want to be a pilot after my career in tennis is complete.
