Hi, my name is Juana di Sabato and I am from River Forest, IL, although I was originally born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am a rising Junior at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. I have been playing field hockey competitively since 3rd grade when I joined Rise Field Hockey, and now I currently play on my club team, Windy City Field Hockey. My school doesn’t offer a field hockey program, making my passion for hockey grow fonder. I play anywhere in the midfield line.
Being born in Argentina culturally exposed me to field hockey at a very young age. My mom played field hockey when she was younger, yet she never played in college due to the fact that sports aren’t played in college in Argentina. When she signed me up to play hockey I became fond of the sport. Field hockey has helped me both realize on and off the field the importance of resilience, teamwork, and friendship that I continue to carry on throughout my life.
After high school, I want to go to a school in which I can be passionate and strive in both my academic and athletic life. Being able to keep them at a balance and prove my highest potential in both worlds has always been very important to me. I always look forward to building strong and loving relationships with my teammates and coaches, as I always look to them for support and encouragement to become a better player. I believe that I am a receptive player, especially when it comes to feedback, quick to notice and make changes. I believe that showing full effort to become a better player not only on the field or at practice but also outside of field hockey is a crucial part of growth as well. I believe I can always be a virtue on and off the field.
