What makes me different from other recruits? I have attended numerous tennis camps and extra training to put myself at my fullest potential such as multiple intensive IMG tennis camps in Florida, two College Exposure camps, the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy in Spain, and more. I was the only freshman that made it to the varsity team in my high school. Our team won the 2019 New Jersey Independent School Athletic Association (NJSIAA) State Championships. With training and my motivation, I believe I definitely have what coaches need on a team.
But even with my skills, I am sure every tennis recruit is exceptional. I want to be able to use my passion and love and use it for something bigger. Prior to the lockdown, I volunteered every Sunday for the Special Olympics tennis team to teach children and adults with intellectual disabilities how to play. I also was the leader in collecting gently-used tennis racquets for a summer camp that served special needs children in New Jersey every May since the 7th grade. These were wonderful experiences that hold such an importance to me because I benefited others from my abilities.
The community around me is what truly defines me as a person and a player. On the court, I am pushing myself to be the best I can be with each ball I hit. Off the court, I am using the knowledge I gain on the court for the greater good. I want to be able to help people who have disadvantages, something I can do consistently on a college team. With that kind of environment, I will be able to initiate team events where I can affect more people.
