I am Tanay Patil, currently a junior at Rutgers Preparatory School and graduating in 2024. I am 6'4" and weigh 160 lbs.
I started playing soccer and tennis when I was 5 years old. I played travel soccer for our Township (Franklin Township NJ) and private clubs (Jersey Knights) till I was 13 years old. I stopped travel soccer to focus on Tennis and academics. Playing competitive soccer and tennis at the same time became too demanding. I also represented my school in basketball and cross country races. Have played 1st position singles for our school varsity team since my freshman year. I reached a UTR of 9.7 recently with only a few tournaments.
Although I like to play any sport, tennis became my passion slowly, after visiting the US Open every year and when I was awarded USTA NJ District U12 #1 player. Players who have inspired me a lot and have influenced my game are Alexander Zverev , Marin Cilic and Novak Djokovic. My game style is aggressive play with serves and forehand being my primary weapons. I also have a very consistent and attacking backhand. My game and temperament is close to Alexander Zverev. Andre Agassi's book Open and his video tutorials have also influenced my mindset and passion for the game.
Tennis has taught me to be resilient in other aspects of my life and have a never give up mentality. It has also kept me physically fit and full of energy. I have practiced and attended tennis camps at Evert Tennis academy FL, Gorin Tennis Academy CA, Family Circle Tennis SC, Gomez Tennis Academy FL, Nassau Tennis NJ, Marc Hill Tennis Academy NJ and USTA sectional training. I have learned a lot from some great coaches I met at these places including Chris Evert and have made friends, whom I get to meet at Nationals.
Academically I am very interested in the fields of computer science/engineering. I enjoy writing computer programs and reading about the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence. I am looking for a good balance between academics and athletics at college. I would prefer colleges with good technology majors and a good level of tennis.
